  1. How you got through describing how hopeless and terrifying things are without mentioning Trump I don't know. But I agree with your message here. We need hope. And it wouldn't be that hard. Just the feeling that we were all tackling our problems together.. But the man at the top didn't get where he is by uniting people. He got there by playing them against each other.

  2. I think our hope will come in the future.
    The floods remind me of 1972. We had a wall of fast water through town that took us about a year to recover from, and about 5 to 10 years to really get back to the new normal of a changed town. We were lucky the city had about 10 feet covering much of the downtown plus. An entire block burnt down to the water line.
    The scenario was almost repeated in '76, but only about 2 feet on the streets and no washed out bridges.

  3. Have you had the chance to read The World Without Us by Alan Weisman? I found it fascinating and hopeful too, which surprised me. Your post reminded me of that book.
    Construction has restarted here in England, and I felt hopeful while planting in the garden and hearing a builder singing. Little moments like that can help a great deal.
