On the second day of my drive to Milwaukee I stopped at Maze Books, located on an attractive block of downtown Rockford, Illinois.
Owner David W. Pedersen has created a lively cultural center in an impressive space formerly occupied by a jewelry store.
David contributed some excellent stories to the Cold Hard Type series: "Bypass the Operator" in Escapements, "The House That Never Ends" in Dead Keys, and "Almost" in Margin Releases.
Yes, it's a typewriter-friendly place. Some of David's colorful collection is on display.
