This gets me frustrated that I can't go, but on the flip side, excited that other type-ins may start popping up closer to home.
From my basic research, it looks like typecasting start out in 2005, but took a few years to catch on. A forum like PTF started up in late 2002, but didn't get a whole lot of traffic until after 2005 and seemed to peak in 2008.
So, I'd say that the momentum is here and there have been just enough typewriters and repairmen in the media to give this all a boost. Couple that with some of the movements of younger adults wanting to shed themselves of technology and we may have a perfect storm brewing...
