  2. What a great gift. I always find it interesting to see how things were used in their day, and seeing the ads for typewriters, office furniture and, modernity of modernities, an electronic calculator, really helps me realize how far we've come, technology-wise.

  3. Very great gift and some wonderful ads also. I wonder what the electric calculator used for a display. Looks like electrically operated counters cascaded together for a full display. Thank you for sharing.

  4. 1964 is indeed a fine vintage. I love old advertising and this post triggered one of my other obsessions - Nixie tubes.

    The Anita looked like it was equipped with Nixie tubes. I looked it up on vintagecalculators.com. It is a very interesting beast equipped with pre-transistor logic circuits (cold cathode switching tubes) and a Dekatron counting tube as part of the keyboard decoding design. I would love to see the inside of one of these.
