Well done sir! Stunning machine! The typewriter I inquired about yesterday (it will appear on my blog after I clean it up a little, a daunting task) was offered to me for the $10 originally paid for it by the family. Looks like a good day for typewriters...
Same machine, different deal: On Craigslist in NYC, I picked up an almost-mint Rem 5, it its case (with a working lock and two keys), for $50.
If you're canny, NYC CL can be a reasonable typewriter resource. In the past year, I've scored a Groma Kolibri ($50), an early-30s Royal P-series 2nd design portable with the male/female symbols instead of fractions ($40), a 1918 Underwood 5 with some Spanish characters, (also $40), a German-keyboard 1914 Corona 3 in its case (again $40), and, my current fave, a 1937 Patria with a Czech keyboard (a lush $90).
Not exactly 'Oh Yeah' territory ... but machines I enjoy.

ReplyDeleteThat is a sweet buy! My craigslist had a facit tp-2 in the place I happened to be and they stopped responding before I got there so it must be gone.
