I arrived safely at Herman's. Tonight 16 typewriter collectors, spouses, and relatives went out to dinner together, including Leila and Ken of Swinging Typebars. Tomorrow the intensive typewriter geeking begins.
Those look like my kind of junk stores. It's a shame they were mostly typewriter free.

Damn.... I think we've pretty much cleared the floor of typewriters living in the wild still....
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't draw that conclusion. As best I can recall, I stopped in only three antique/junk shops and I spotted four typewriters, one of which I wanted enough to buy. Not bad.

Fantastic entry! Places I've never been but now I can dream them. I envy the adventure. And crave that intrigue of the potential of turning the corner and spotting a holy grail or any rare bird.

DeleteActually, my Fusion came to W. Va. packed with machines which are mostly going to new owners. I need to slim down my collection a bit.
The House of Price is a true wonderland, far exceeding mine.
PS: The Remington Noiseless will surely be moving on to a student, friend, or colleague after I clean and refurbish it.

ReplyDeleteI love those big old houses. That 's one of the things I miss from living in the North neat old big houses. And yes, W.VA is in the North when one lives in FL. When I lived in VA it was 30 miles to the West.
