I posted the results of the Perfect Typewriter poll yesterday, but the post didn't make it onto the blogrolls—a glitch that seems to hit all typospherians occasionally. Let's see whether this new post fares better.

Perfect portable? That may be a bit difficult for me. If it were not for the noisy plated I'd choose my 1970s SCM Classic-12. Maybe a round style Hermes 3000.
ReplyDeleteI commented on your otriginal post but it's disappeared so I'll post it here again (excuse the deletion).
ReplyDeleteGood to hear that your poll generated a decent number of respondents, it's going to be a great addition to your book project.
Royal Aristocrat??? That's a bit of a surprise considering all the German engineered beauties you have. What model are you referring to exactly? SUrely, you do not mean the Safari version!
For me and for now, Olivetti Lettera 22, Ivrea, 1950s, round keys, and only if it is in A-1 condition (wish everyone could try a refurb, it makes a world of difference) is as close to perfect as it gets for me. Aside from the styling and "toco Olivetti," I appreciate portability much more now after I had to move apartments. The poll made me realize how much of the bells and whistles I really do not care about. Another candidate for close to perfect is Gossen Tippa.
I was not the author of the comment about the Royal Aristocrat. It's hard to keep track of all the information in the results, I know!
DeleteOkay, that makes sense now. I want to know what your choice is for 'close to perfect' among your machines!

DeleteNow you fueled my lust for Princess/Scheidegger!
