It's all in how you look at it. Dreams become real because enough of the right people visualize the dreams into reality. The thing existed all along as an idea within the aether until we as a sentient species gave it shape and form. Kind of like the Krell Machine, but slower and more physical in its manifested workings. One can only wonder if it's us at the controls.
