Consul 224's on TWDB
I take it back, there is a Consul 1518 on the Database. It was sold in (East?) Germany.

The Typewriter Database includes this soft-focus pic of a mini-Dresbold—a Consul 232 ultraportable.
Nice looking typewriter. I never heard of Dresbold before. He was ahead of his time importing typewriters from behind the iron curtain in the 60's.
ReplyDeleteThey are quite good machines. The fact that a small chain could get them custom branded so nicely (tho why didn't they use the white plastic Dresbold logo on your ribbon cover?) inexpensively - that's pretty cool. Surprised more small chains didn't do it. (:
ReplyDeleteI asked myself the same question about the logo. Maybe it didn't seem sturdy enough for such a strong, metallic machine?
Delete"Dresbold" sounds Eastern Block (must be thinking of Dresden). Just checked my files and found a "Libelle" smaller flatter Consul with a German keyboard. I'll aadd it to the TWDB. ;)
