Typewriter Playlist

PS: the Calvin Marty song and the Bollywood song are just excerpted on my CD. Just so you know!
And "Swiws" = Swiss.

  1. Quite a diverse playlist, from electro-pop to Bollywood! I will have to take a listen to some of these; I didn't realize one could find quite so many typewriter-themed songs. The only one I've heard before today was the Alicia Keys you posted here earlier, but I found it a bit too shouty and haven't taken another listen.

I think -li might be a meaningful suffix of some sort in these parts as I've seen it quite often but do not know what it means; I'll leave it to the German speakers to clarify.

  2. quite right, "li" is a Swiss diminutive, just like in "hüsli" (little house in the prarie), "fischli" (little fish). You see, English and Swiss German are not so far apart, after all. That's why the Swiss typosphere is booming!

in total, we are getting a great typewriter playlist together!

  4. Wow, great list! Chez shordzi, there's also "Typewriter Tormet", which is quite cool, too.
Yesterday (Or is it still friday in the USA?) I posted my "The Collection"-entry about my own Torpedo 18, and today followed the (german) user's manual.

  5. Wondering if this musical interlude was presaged by the stave in your wallpaper?

  6. shordzi and maschinengeschrieben, thanks for the links. All interested in typewriter music should check out shordzi's post, complete with videos and lots of songs I hadn't heard before.

I'll post the winner of the drawing in about 24 hours, and he or she will be selected scientifically: each commenter will be assigned a number, I'll set the margin stops of my Lexikon 80 at random points, and then I'll type the numbers over and over until the bell rings!

  7. Carmelita by Warren Zevon? Or is pawning your Smith-Corona a no-no?

  8. I have a few I could add but maybe I'll just wait to make up my own list! Though sadly I think I only have about 3 songs, pitiful in comparison to yours, and they all are indie or some kind of old rock.

  9. OK, I used the scientific method described above, and of the 6 comment writers, #6 is the lucky winner! Philosophothinker's CD will go out in tomorrow's mail. [Corrected a typo. I am very inaccurate.]

  10. That's awesome, Richard. I was meaning to ask you what was on that CD that (as far as I recall) was never played.

  11. Check out 'Shadow Stabbing' by Cake. Catchy and typewriter-themed. Greg

  12. Thanks, Greg -- I like the song. Wasn't familiar with it.

(Duffy, I played the CD once but we were having so much fun that it was just background music.)
