I've really grown to like the Brother machines. It seems like they didn't cut as many corners in the manufacture of these machines, long after other makers started dropping plastic in places where plastic didn't belong.
I bid on a 333 just like this, but lost to a sniper. Part of me is glad, since I've already picked up two machines in a month, but part is also sad for "the one that got away."
My Kmart 100 sings like that too! But (formerly) my Webster (which is more similar to this you have) didn't. It's very nice, I always admired the black painted Remington labeled ones.
I barely know anything about typewriters, but this one has a very solid look to it. This machine has a certain economy of design which is very attractive.
nice typeface too! Must have a nice face.
ReplyDeletepretty nice to still have the braces
ReplyDeleteMy Webster does that *ringing* thing, too. When you get to a really steady typing speed, it sounds like a metallic hummmmm.....
ReplyDeleteHow does one subscribe to St. Vincent's psychic tweets?

ReplyDeleteA typewriter for the Space Age! Nice logotype and for some reason 333 makes me think of a ranch's cattle brand. Too much of The Virginian as a kid.

ReplyDeleteBy coincidence, Remington 333 #F9453055 just appeared on eBay, with a warranty card dated 1969. So I'm guessing that my #E8971648 is a bit earlier.
