Typewriter lovers young and old, newbies and experts, gathered at Herman Price's Chestnut Ridge Typewriter Museum today. (Herman is gesturing in this photo.)
We spent hours playing show and tell, comparing machines, absorbing delightful trivia.
I loved this 1938 Adler Standard that Will and Dave Davis brought. I don't know that I've encountered a typewriter that feels better, does nicer work, and has better features. (Read Will's post about it here.)
But my favorite typewriter was this one!
Herman had this cake made for me to thank me for editing ETCetera for seven years. It was an unexpected and delightful surprise. It may be the closest I come to having a Sphinx typewriter, which has been on my 10 Most Wanted list for some 16 years.
