I'm in Boston for a conference. So of course, my old friend and I played hooky for a day and went to the Brimfield outdoor antique show in central Massachusetts. I spotted the following typewriters. Can you guess which one came back to the hotel with me? (Hint: 1937.)
well, 1937 would seem to rule out anything but the Remington 5, eh? :D
ReplyDeleteThe Remington 5. However, I'm going to say there's an outside chance you went with the Underwood, which was made around the same time. There's something intriguing about the smaller "Universal" on that machine.
ReplyDeleteI really thought you had kicked the habit.
ReplyDeleteThe monkey's still riding me! In this case, I can justify purchasing the Remington 5 because I'll be reselling it before long to raise funds for WordPlay Cincy.
DeleteDisorders don't go away so easily. Just read my blog to find out! Right now I am finally starting to frame and hang some of the 30-odd posters I bought eight years ago from the Olivetti Archives in Ivrea. But the funny thing is I never cringe at the memory of my self-indulgence in buying something I really liked; I only regret at the things I let go. I can still remember a Paul Klee exhibition poster I didn't get on ebay.
