When analog is better than digital

  1. I used to have one remote to control my TV and cable. Now I have four. Just yesterday I accidentally hit some button on the remote that controls the sound that turned the sound off and I couldn't figure out which one. There are 52 buttons on the remote (yes, I counted) and I only use 6 of them. I just started pushing various buttons and finally got the sound back. It took me 45 minutes (and I still don't know which button solved the problem).

    1. I thought you'd appreciate this post! Yes: today's remotes are absurd.

  2. In the case of the microwave, I do prefer a slightly more complicated setup than just one timer dial: I also want to able to set the strength of the microwave. Longer time on lower strength = properly heated meal instead of one thing being still cold and the other scorching hot.

    1. Yeah, this is a minimalist microwave. It also lacks a rotating tray. I wonder when it was made ... 1979? I like the ability to just GO immediately, but some extra, truly optional options would be desirable.
