I stopped by the Ohio Valley Antique Mall today and checked out the latest crop of you-know-whats.
I'll tell you right now that I didn't buy any of them. But I can still create a quiz: Which of these models is the rarest? Do you know? Write your guess in the comments below.
I am guessing the 1964 Olympia SM9. Only made with the green logo for a year. Someone close should go nab that one. A great typewriter.
ReplyDeleteI'd agree with that, but it's also possible that JC Penney didn't brand a *whole bunch* of those Coronamatics - probably fewer than Olympia made of 1st-year SM9's worldwide. I certainly see a lot more of them than the JC Penney branded machines.
DeleteGood point. Just as rare is that hunk of early styrofoam. Ha.
DeleteYuh, I've only seen that a couple times before in a Galaxy case. Those are the people that also keep all the documentation and the key in the case as well. :D
DeleteI also think the rarest is the JC Penney branded SCM.
ReplyDeleteYes: In my experience, the JC Penney "Electric Cartridge Typewriter" is the rarest model here. I don't think I've ever seen one before, and there is only one on The Typewriter Database—this one, which I just uploaded!
