Intentional rust and imitation dust

The sellers of this thing advertised on Amazon write:

The products in this store are all "old handmade". In order to achieve an old-fashioned effect, some rust, obvious welding marks, and imitation dust on the product are intentional, not a quality problem, nor an old product.

Imitation dust! Not real dust, mind you. It's actually made out of magic unicorn crystals and thus does not count as dust.

How dumb do they think we are?

  1. The photos show not only two different design choices but the carriage return lever can be on the left or right. Even the keys letters can be ordered backwards. Wow! This is an amazing type machine custom made for lefties and dust lovers everywhere. Who is calling me dumb? .. only backwards!

  2. Huh, haven't seen the JP-7 variant being offered as new in years. I wonder if these are long-lost warehouse machines.

    1. My guess is that this is a random pile of old, used typewriters of various makes, grabbed up in junk stores and sold at a big markup.

    2. They are not "offered as new," but offered as pseudo-old! I think it's pretty obvious, though, that they simply ARE old, and used to boot.

  3. Rather than the typewriters, I'd like to get a bucket full of imitation dust.

  4. Why does “Intentional Rust” sound like an AI knockoff of a Pynchon novel??
