Better red than dead

PS: Another hot rod project is already in the works. Hint: Which aluminum-bodied typewriter, other than the Hermes 3000, might look great with the Silver Surfer treatment?

  1. Bravo, Richard! Man, you did a great job with this one. That black accent paint worked so well. "... glorious Communist paint," love it!

My guess for Silver Surfer: Triumph Gabriele

  2. Very nice job with the paint, Richard!

Triumph Gabrieles are not aluminum-bodied, so that rules out your guess, lo-tech. Unless you meant to say a Triumph (DeJur) Perfekt, in which case...hmmm... it's a possibility.

However, I remember Richard has a glut of Groma Kolibris, so I'm going to go with one of those as my guess!

  3. Beautifully done! A master Reanimator is you! Groma Kolibris have such nice paint jobs already that I wouldn't guess one of them. Instead, I will hazard a guess on a Super-5 bodied Smith Corona that is currently covered in filthy poop-brown crinkle paint. :D

  4. Adwoa, I meant Triumph Perfekt, thanks for the correction!

  5. Very nice! That two-tone looked great on the old Royals, and even better (dare I say?!) here! Bravo!

  6. Yep, turned out nicely. And I love the black accents. Makes it look like it caught fire on the inside before you got to it with an extinguisher! Very badass. The kind of machine that Satan would use.

  7. I think you are going to SS a Lettera 22. Why do I think that? Well, I am doing the same thing to that very machine. Mine has a poopy tan color that NEEDS TO GO.

  8. Nice work Mr.P. From the spray pattern, looks like straight out the can? Risking an egg-on-face (for asking): have you tried an airbrush? I'm sure you'd be able to finesse a factory finish doing even more justice to your handiwork.

  9. Nope, I have no experience with airbrushing. I'm sure it would create a very sophisticated look.

By the way, the inventor of the airbrush, Abner Peeler, also invented a strange index typewriter around 1860 that survives today (story in ETCetera no. 88).

  10. Awesome.
Hope you have some contingency for a domino effect. Once the reds start "taking over the world", things go downhill fast.

  11. Yeah to me I'm with teeritz - satans typewriter. Or it would have fit in nicely in Hellboy, comic or film
