Street typing story in the Xavier Newswire

Xavier University's Newswire just published a story about the "street typing" I've done with my colleague Tyrone Williams. We did it once in the spring (here's my account), and again recently. This is a fine story except for the technical error "there are no backspace keys on a typewriter"; the reporter means "delete keys," of course. Click on the image to enlarge it.

  1. Awesome! I bet it's a lot easier to sit at a little table with a typewriter offering to compose things for strangers when you have a typin' buddy along for the ride.. (:

  2. Great! Have any of the students picked up a typewriter and given it a try?

    1. I don't know if there's been any such direct effect of these events, but I know they have created some buzz and curiosity.

  3. This is beyond cool. Maybe someday I’ll try on campus.

  4. What typewriters were you both using? (Just curious.)

    1. I used a green '30s Underwood Champion portable, and I lent Ty my Sterling Silver Surfer.

  5. Hello, here my long-term film project, a tribute to Wayne Wang ("Smoke" movie), now more than 725 photos from the same place in 3 years. A perfect companion for my "The Typewriter Boy" blog. https://cento-volte-in-piazza-volta.blogspot.com/
